"Nothing Is Everything" by Government Overdose Department (Electronica Artist from United Kingdom)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Government Overdose Department with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Nothing Is Everything"

"Nothing Is Everything" is an avant garde electronic punk album with hip-hop undertones from Government Overdose Department. G.O.D. is not only political in their content, but the band also delivers powerful messages about freedom of expression and offers an eclectic take on life. The arrangements are very creative, incorporating many genres and introducing you to sounds that will challenge your ears. The sound is full and well layered, with great instrumentation and an interesting blending of sounds. The mix does not sell the production short either; it's well-polished and sounds really good. Highlights include "Marajuana," which has a killer arrangement, a great hook, and one of the most bizarre groans you have ever heard in a song. "G.O.D." opens with haunting spoken word and evolves into a nice barrage of well-layered lyrics with great diversity. "Mushroom Song" is a trip to say the least, as it opens with pure psychedelia and evolves into a strange punk/jazz number. If you enjoy psychedelic rock fused with punk, hip-hop, and electronica, Government Overdose Department's "Nothing is Everything" will be quite the experience for you. (WARNING! EXPLICIT LYRICS)

"Torments" by Immundus (Electronic Artist from Norway)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Immundus with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Torments"

"Torments" is a haunting ambient album from Norwegian artist Immundus. Prepare yourself: one listen may force you to sleep with the lights on. Immundus creates an overall atmosphere of horror, suspense and distortion. Though the mood is dark, you'll hear some nice melodies and temporary hints of hope throughout. The arrangements are powerful enough to make you create your own horrific scene in your mind, like a horror movie without the movie. "Torments" is well-produced and allows the listener to hear those dark, disturbing ambient sounds as cleanly as possible. "I Walk Through the Shadows" opens thing up with creepy yet melodic bells and works its way into a disturb-o-rama of sounds. "To Where the Spirits Dwell" fills your ears with faint chants, creepy soundscapes, and a feeling that evil is approaching. "The Grieving Widow" wraps things up nicely with organic elements in the beginning and a nice progression in the end that speaks to the title. With "Torments," Immundus has created a must-have for those who enjoy horror soundtracks and dark ambient music.

"Monochrome In Technicolor" by Helen Sventitsky (Electronica Artist from Nevada(NV))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Helen Sventitsky with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Monochrome In Technicolor"

"Monochrome In Technicolor" is a poetic electronica album from by talented singer/songwriter Helen Sventitsky. Helen's sound incorporates many influences, including elements of folk, new wave, punk, rock and electronic. Helen is certainly an artist's musician as she places her heart on display with her true to life lyrics. Her vocal delivery succeeds in displaying the content of her writing and she has an impressive range, sort of a marriage between Björk and Depeche Mode. The arrangements behind her are outside the box, intelligent, and nicely compliment her vocal performance. The quality of the recordings is great, and the overall product is very slick. Highlights include the opener, "You And Me And The Goddam City," which lives up to the title with great lyrics, great vocals and a powerful layering of sounds. "Incident At Motel 6" brings the sound down to a more intimate state with a beautiful melody and moving vocals. "Withdrawal Symptoms (An Addict's Dream)" features a nice hook and extreme danceability. "Monochrome In Technicolor" is an impressive album with unique female vocals, great storytelling lyrics, and a great overall sound that draws from a variety of genres. If you enjoy folky punk, solo female vocalists, and electronic music, give Helen Sventitsky a shot.

"Kisses in the Evening" by Dynamic Destony (Electronic Artist from Florida(FL))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Dynamic Destony with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Kisses in the Evening"

"Kisses in the Evening" by Dynamic Destony is an enjoyable '80s-influenced, hard-hitting club album that features pulsing rhythms, thumping beats, and a sound comprised of many different electronic elements. This album is simultaneously energetic, aggressive, loud, and smooth, and it doesn't waste any time in giving you the urge to dance. Shades of '80s bands like Dead or Alive and Human League are ever-present in both the arrangements and the vocals, but Dynamic Destony create a unique sound by combining this with electronica and trance elements. With "Kisses in the Evening," you get power and pump as well as catchy melodies and flavorful vocals. The production quality is excellent, and the songs are all ready to spin. Standouts include the title track, "Kisses in the Evening," which bursts out of the speakers with a fat beat, strong vocals, and extreme danceability. "My Angel" features classic '80s hooks and opens a window into a bit of a darker side of Dynamic Destony's sound. "Baby Don't You Want Me" is a good choice for a closer that starts out very minimal and erupts into an epic final burst of energy. If you enjoy '80s synth pop and new wave combined with electronic and club beats, give this excellent CD a spin.
