Listen up to the intriguing experimental electronic sounds of "Equilibrio Sbilanciato" by the quite fascinating composer Syntithenai. These inventive arrangements stimulate an air of artistic visions of well produced sounds blended with moving, percussive beats. With an ambiance of industrial tonality, "Deceiving Train" is enhanced with brilliant and soothing synth sounds that bond with the rhythmic percussion. The title track, "Equilibrio Sbilanciato" could easily be heard at a club as there is a soft and gentle arpeggio and subtle synth string swells. RadioIndy is pleased to present Refracture with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Left For Dead Ep "

RadioIndy is pleased to present Refracture with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Left For Dead Ep "

House music is a mystifyingly multitude of Electronica / Dance music with numerous degrees of specialization and nuances. Beats Per Minute (BPM), textural definition and use / non-use of vocals are but a few of the defining characteristics that divide such subgenres of House as Dirty House, French House, and Electro House. Refracture's 3-song CD EP, "Left for Dead," blends elements of different subgenres - most notably Electro House - meaning, the music has the requisite BPM's, is anchored by propulsive bass lines, and features the sonic balance / blend associated with the House styles. All 3 tracks are catchy, infectious, and danceable as all get-out (i.e., very danceable indeed!). The title track, "Left for Dead" kicks things off with a slow-build synth swirl that hesitates before exploding into an irresistible groove punctuated by sonic squeaks and squalls that drop out of nowhere, keeping the mix continuously fresh. "Space Riot" and "Energy Flow" are both more immediate and insistent, but no less engaging, and each makes a case for being the best of the 3 mixes on the CD. If you're a House music connoisseur you will make up your own mind about the House attributes and qualifications of Refracture's "Left for Dead" EP, but if you're an Electronica music fan I think you'll find this CD delivers where it counts: on the dance floor.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Ari Inkiläinen with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Shine (Lumi&Stars mix)"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Ari Inkiläinen with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Shine (Lumi&Stars mix)"

Ari Inkiläinen and his latest release, "The Shine (Lumi&Stars mix)," will bring listeners of the electronica scene to their feet. As a composer, Inkilainen has a talent for finding the right sounds and rhythms tailored for the club scene. Using sounds that are driven from synths and drum machines is no easy task, as the composer must play each track with precise timing and control to create the final song. You can hear the multi-layering Inkiläinen has embedded within this song with different types of synth string effects, while the drums keep a steady and solid beat. There is also a dynamic balance between the sounds as each string effect stands out as it takes the solo. The melody is catchy as it loops around with sounds that are vibrant and lively. Fans of Moby or Vangelis will thoroughly enjoy Ari Inkiläinen's "The Shine (Lumi&Stars mix)" with its club scene sounds and grooving beats.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Thomas Donovan with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Xtended.dance"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Thomas Donovan with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Xtended.dance"

Thomas Donovan's latest CD, "Xtended.dance," furthers the prolific Electronica artist's exploration of synth-pop dance music. On this 8-song offering, only the lead track (and single) "Pump Up the Love" is entirely new, as the rest of the disc is comprised of remixes of club favorites, "Colour," Calling Around the World," "Trapped," and "Total Controller." "Pump Up the Love," though, like "Trapped" or "Colour," evokes as well the hook-centric quality of UK-style Top 40 pop to fine effect. "Total Controller," in fact, offers up a rousing sing-along chorus not unlike The Killers' "Somebody Told Me." Throughout "Xtended.dance," Donovan demonstrates an uncanny knack for affecting the perfect vocal touch as his supple and emotive voice bends, swoops, and glides over synth-drenched Electronica that makes this CD as Top 40-worthy as it is danceable.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Hijirah Kem with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Up Against My Soul"

Hijirah Kem's album, "Up Against My Soul," is an eclectic and edgy electronica experience. Kem describes herself as a "multi-media artist" who utilizes high-tech compositional collaging as her instrument and formula for channeling creativity. The music is complex in its individual and collective layering yet the elements mesh, creating a futuristic sound that gels. "Sand in my Head" includes an almost droning tone, created by a digital wind instrument that exudes an enticing and mysterious ambiance. "Chasing Wormholes" is a perfect title for the final song as resonating synths fall into rubble and re-emerge reborn. The album carries its own inertia and remains engaging through the end. Go on an escapade with Hijirah Kem and her latest disc, "Up Against My Soul," she'll show you the way.

Didge Extreme / David Blonski, talented composer and recording artist, serves up another terrific album titled "Into the Night - Music for the Road," comprised of energetic grooves of electronica and fusion dance music. Blonski's use of the didgeridoo is not only amazingly creative, but the way he incorporates the unique sound of this instrument with synthesized sounds is incredible. The first track, "Twilight Begins," launches off this disc with vigorous beats and the haunting tones of the drone-like didgeridoo with a mysterious charm. Exotic flutes on "Cruise Control" are rich in flavor and reverberate with an ambiance that is lively and full of life. You will sense the Middle Eastern tonality of the percussive drums on "Desert Crossroads" as it takes listeners to what seems like an oasis in a hot desert. RadioIndy is pleased to present Warped Angel with a GrIndie Award for the CD "I Wanna Dream"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Warped Angel with a GrIndie Award for the CD "I Wanna Dream"

From the city that brought us Wayne Newton and The Killers, Las Vegas' own Warped Angel are back with their newest disc "I Wanna Dream." The band is comprised of singer/songwriter Lisa Chambliss and musician/songwriter Chris Chimo. Together, they have created an album filled with industrial and electro angst. Don't take that last sentence lightly, Chambliss' voice is chocked full of emotion and drive. "We use the power of emotion to write the lyrics and compose the music," says Chambliss and that can easily be heard on the title track "I Wanna Dream." There are also some hints of Nine Inch Nails hardcore tones scattered about this disc. Just listen to songs like "Distance" and "My War" as they ooze that NIN sound. If you are into that Euro/Industrial rock sound, than Warped Angel is a safe bet.

RadioIndy is pleased to present AURADRONE with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Whitelite Britelite"

Imagine if the members of The Cure decided to replace lead singer Robert Smith with a sexy female vocalist. If you can't, then perhaps listening to "Whitelite Britelite" by Auradrone will help you see the big picture. Hailing from Los Angeles, the band is fronted by the very talented Jon Mack. Her vocals are filled with tasty lyrics and sex appeal to the max. Just give a good listen to songs like "Auto Erotic" and "A Channel," and listeners will be able to hear her vocals at their best. The band is also very good and is great at changing the style of songs while still keeping that "Auradrone" sound throughout it all. "Indigo Child" is both classic 80's and super erotic at the same time, so be sure to give that track a few spins. If you love The Cure or the sound they represent, give Auradrone's "Whitelite Britelite" a good listen.

RadioIndy is pleased to present GaGa Records with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Gaga in Da House"

Gaga Records produces the art of house music very well in their latest compilation "Gaga in Da House." This album features tracks from select artists which Gaga Records claims "They make the difference in house music." That bold statement rings true in songs like "Angel Eyes" a Viken Mardikian remix that features a smooth sax layered on top of a funky groove. In a bit of a twist from the norm, "Voodoo Essence" brings more of an African tribal vibe to the mix and is a welcome change. It is also a style not commonly found in the house genre and helps bring this disc to a different level. The talented musician does an outstanding job with his most recent album by fusing ethnic sounds with beats you would hear on any weekend in a club on Sunset Blvd. "La Bossa Love" features some magnificent melodic Spanish guitar work and sets the tone for the whole record. "Micro Talk" by Miguel Rodrigues is an innovative electronica and house album that is full of funky riffs and soulfully energetic beats. RadioIndy is pleased to present Seraphim Winter with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Seraphim Winter"

"Seraphim Winter" is the excellent self-titled debut EP from San Francisco outfit Seraphim Winter that features outstanding female lead vocals and delightful ambient arrangements. All of the members of Seraphim Winter lend their vocals to the EP, though the beautiful and sensuous lead vocals of Mary F. Connors and the harmonic backing vocals of Stephanie Eike fuel this release. The songs are soothing, enticed with melodic keyboard, guitars, and percussion, and Western influence serving as a great accompaniment to the vocals. The songs are ethereal, moody, and meditative--great for relaxation. "Seraphim Winter" is well-produced, bringing the vocals to the forefront while keeping the instruments soft and befitting. "Dawn" opens the EP with a beautiful vocal harmony, ambience, and worldly beat, then has an excellent build that moves the song into a relaxing instrumental segment. RadioIndy is pleased to present Mythos with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Surround Sound Offensive"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Mythos with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Surround Sound Offensive"

One listen to Berlin electronica group Mythos' "Surround Sound Offensive" will change the way you listen to music forever. Mythos frontman Stephan Kaske has composed an incredible, artistic instrumental album that gives a new meaning to fullness of sound. Self-produced by Kaske in Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound, "Surround Sound Offensive" constantly has a variety of sounds going in different places at the same time that artfully come together as a compositional whole. These instrumentals, minimalistically labeled "S.S.O.-1" through "S.S.O.-11" are excellently crafted, well-layered, catchy, and unique. These songs are, by nature, best when listened to loudly on a surround sound system, and the album is meant to be listened to from beginning to end, as an artistic whole. "S.S.O.-2" has an '80s feel to it with a great beat and a full sound that brings lots of different sounds together. "S.S.O.-8" has a lot of spacey ambience going, more great beats, and excellent instrumental layering with well-timed fades and dueling instrumentation. "Surround Sound Offensive" is an electronica masterpiece filled with amazing, full instrumentation that fills the canvas with Kaske's artistic expression. Fans of electronica, and anyone with a surround sound system are going to want to pick this one up.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Thomas Hutchings with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Allergic to Gravity"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Thomas Hutchings with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Allergic to Gravity"

"Allergic to Gravity" is a unique jazz-tronica album from New York City saxophonist/electronic music composer Thomas Hutchings. This album is all about making original, good music. Hutchings' songs originate with the synthesizer, programmed beats, and various electronica elements, forming the base for all the tracks. Then he dubs live instruments, including percussion, creative guitar, funky bass, sax, flute, clarinet, and trumpet over it to complete the arrangement. Some tracks are jazz-heavy, others are electronica-heavy, and still others breech the trip-hop and funk genres. All of the arrangements are outstanding, with catchy hooks, danceable beats, and the live instruments perfectly in sync with the programmed elements. "Allergic to Gravity" is well-produced, and the louder you play it, the better. "Shizznizzle" has a great arrangement with a quick flute line throughout, a funky bass line, hot beats programming, and an overall consistency throughout. "Everybody Say Ahhhhh" is an electronica-heavy track with extreme danceability and light horns in the background, and features a great trumpet solo against the beats. Overall, "Allergic to Gravity" is an original album that fuses two distinct genres through a great electronic base and excellent jazz accompaniments. Fans of either of these genres should see what jazz-tronica is all about.

"Felicia" by Felecia Punzo (Electronica Artist from Pennsylvania(PA))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Felicia Punzo with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Felicia"

"Felicia" is the five-song electro pop debut EP from fifteen year old phenom Felicia Punzo. Prepare to hear about Felicia for years upon years to come, as her smooth and clean vocal performance puts her in the same vein as Miley Cyrus and early Madonna. Suffice to say, she has mainstream written all over her. This EP is filled with great electro and hip-hop beats that, even if dared, you couldn't sit still to. Felicia writes her own lyrics, which is more than you can say about most young pop sensations. She sings about love and lost love, including one particularly heartfelt song, "Angel," which is about a young friend of hers that passed on. The recording quality is excellent and ready for club play, or to be cranked up at a house dance party. "Do It Anyway You Wanna" has a nice electro beat and a great use of synthesizers, showing Felicia's minimalist side. "Love of a Lifetime" is a more lyrical track ready for radio play that is sure to make you marvel at Felicia's maturity level considering her age. Overall, "Felicia" is an impressive debut from a young new artist sure to consistently make her way to the radio waves. For fans of electro pop and the likes of Miley Cyrus, Felicia Punzo would make a worthy addition.-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Review Team

"The Greatest Hits of Mr. X" by Clive Stevens (Electronic Artist from Florida(FL))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Clive Stevens with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Greatest Hits of Mr. X"

"The Greatest Hits of Mr. X" is an eclectic grouping of songs that span a variety of global genres brought to you by Clive Stevens. This is the ninth solo release from Stevens, and this album shows his musical experience and maturity, as well as his knowledge of world music as a whole. Stevens' influence is based firmly in jazz music, and this album is even dedicated to great jazz musician Miles Davis. The complete sound of his arrangements are derived from funk, rock, reggae, electronic, and new age as well. The songs are diverse, rhythmic, and true to the Clive Stevens sound. The majority of the tracks are instrumental, but when Stevens sings, his vocal performance is reminiscent of Sting and Peter Gabriel, often coupled with a talented female vocalist. "The Greatest Hits of Mr. X" is well-produced, with clean vocals and arrangements that are ready to burst through your speakers. "Mystique Chic" is a smooth jazz instrumental with great saxophone and guitar solos, as well as some nice guitar and drum work. "Saturnight" is an electronic jazz fusion track with a great instrumental arrangement that makes you want to move. Overall, "The Greatest Hits of Mr. X" is a solid album from a seasoned professional. "osh10" by osh10 (Electronica Artist from Australia)

RadioIndy is pleased to present osh10 with a GrIndie Award for the CD "osh10"

"osh10" is a self-titled trip-hop album with elements of funk and jazz from a talented Australian duo. The group is made up of two people and one instrument – Mike Macgregor on the electronic bass and Aimee Chapman as the vocalist who unleashes beautiful melodies and harmonies with her big cute voice. All of the sounds you hear on "osh10," with the exception of the closer "Lullaby," are either made with Macgregor's bass or Chapman's vocals without any additional instruments. They are more stripped down than The White Stripes, yet they create a sound just as solid. The arrangements are excellent and interweave Chapman's strong vocal performance with Macgregor's funk and jazz-infused bass licks. At times the two play off one another and at other times they give one another the spotlight with an a cappella performance or a bass solo that would certainly impress the pants off of Les Claypool. This album is also well-recorded, the bass licks and the vocals sound clean and crisp and the album is ready to go to eleven - so to speak. "Mr Sheen" opens up the album with an outstanding funk bass line, great lyrics and an excellent vocal performance. "Sferics" is an instrumental track that loops Macgregor's bass to give the track an ambient electronic sound. "Lullaby" closes things out by introducing the xylophone and piano to the instrumental picture to imitate a wind-up music box and back another outstanding lyrical and vocal performance. osh10 is a unique band with a unique sound created by a talented bassist and a great female vocalist with a big voice. "Nothing Is Everything" by Government Overdose Department (Electronica Artist from United Kingdom)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Government Overdose Department with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Nothing Is Everything"

"Nothing Is Everything" is an avant garde electronic punk album with hip-hop undertones from Government Overdose Department. G.O.D. is not only political in their content, but the band also delivers powerful messages about freedom of expression and offers an eclectic take on life. The arrangements are very creative, incorporating many genres and introducing you to sounds that will challenge your ears. The sound is full and well layered, with great instrumentation and an interesting blending of sounds. The mix does not sell the production short either; it's well-polished and sounds really good. Highlights include "Marajuana," which has a killer arrangement, a great hook, and one of the most bizarre groans you have ever heard in a song. "G.O.D." opens with haunting spoken word and evolves into a nice barrage of well-layered lyrics with great diversity. "Mushroom Song" is a trip to say the least, as it opens with pure psychedelia and evolves into a strange punk/jazz number. If you enjoy psychedelic rock fused with punk, hip-hop, and electronica, Government Overdose Department's "Nothing is Everything" will be quite the experience for you. (WARNING! EXPLICIT LYRICS)

"Torments" by Immundus (Electronic Artist from Norway)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Immundus with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Torments"

"Torments" is a haunting ambient album from Norwegian artist Immundus. Prepare yourself: one listen may force you to sleep with the lights on. Immundus creates an overall atmosphere of horror, suspense and distortion. Though the mood is dark, you'll hear some nice melodies and temporary hints of hope throughout. The arrangements are powerful enough to make you create your own horrific scene in your mind, like a horror movie without the movie. "Torments" is well-produced and allows the listener to hear those dark, disturbing ambient sounds as cleanly as possible. "I Walk Through the Shadows" opens thing up with creepy yet melodic bells and works its way into a disturb-o-rama of sounds. "To Where the Spirits Dwell" fills your ears with faint chants, creepy soundscapes, and a feeling that evil is approaching. "The Grieving Widow" wraps things up nicely with organic elements in the beginning and a nice progression in the end that speaks to the title. With "Torments," Immundus has created a must-have for those who enjoy horror soundtracks and dark ambient music.

"Monochrome In Technicolor" by Helen Sventitsky (Electronica Artist from Nevada(NV))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Helen Sventitsky with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Monochrome In Technicolor"

"Monochrome In Technicolor" is a poetic electronica album from by talented singer/songwriter Helen Sventitsky. Helen's sound incorporates many influences, including elements of folk, new wave, punk, rock and electronic. Helen is certainly an artist's musician as she places her heart on display with her true to life lyrics. Her vocal delivery succeeds in displaying the content of her writing and she has an impressive range, sort of a marriage between Björk and Depeche Mode. The arrangements behind her are outside the box, intelligent, and nicely compliment her vocal performance. The quality of the recordings is great, and the overall product is very slick. Highlights include the opener, "You And Me And The Goddam City," which lives up to the title with great lyrics, great vocals and a powerful layering of sounds. "Incident At Motel 6" brings the sound down to a more intimate state with a beautiful melody and moving vocals. "Withdrawal Symptoms (An Addict's Dream)" features a nice hook and extreme danceability. "Monochrome In Technicolor" is an impressive album with unique female vocals, great storytelling lyrics, and a great overall sound that draws from a variety of genres. If you enjoy folky punk, solo female vocalists, and electronic music, give Helen Sventitsky a shot.
